Water Meter Middle East

About the event

Water Meter Middle East was successfully held on 25 October 2011 in Dubai where key stakeholders in the water sector gathered to share the latest conservation and measurement strategies.

Metering International magazine’s Middle East Water Meter Seminar 2011 was designed for stakeholders involved in the water sector who wished to define a consistent approach to managing, conserving and measuring water in a cost-effective and realistic way.

In this unique opportunity delegates took part in an interactive workshop expertly facilitated by Mr Jeremy Heath, Network Manager, Sutton & East Surrey Water, UK.

The key message shared at the event was brought about by the delegates debating the following questions before they could evaluate smart metering in the water industry:

  • Do we need smart metering or just want it because it exists?
  • What are the problems that we are hoping to solve?
  • What solutions are we intending to put in place?
  • How can smart metering help us to achieve these solutions?

Eng. Khaldon H. Khashman, Secretary General of the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) presented the keynote address and had the following to say after the event, “It was my great pleasure to attend this very special, well-organized event, and to be among those professional delegates. Looking forward to always work together and to partnering in near future events.”

Building on the success of The Middle East Water Seminar we are growing the 2012 event into a full two day conference in focusing on Sustainable Water Resource Management in the Middle East.

We invite you to submit your abstract early for those wanting to present current papers to stakeholders involved in the water sector. This is your opportunity to provide the water sector in the Middle East with the latest technology, conservation and demand side management techniques.

Giving the industry the tools to make the case for why they should invest in resource management tools, skills and technology. The Water Resource Management Middle East conference will allow stakeholders to examine the role that AMI and infrastructure development will play in meeting the water industry and governments’ objectives.

Those who could not attend this year’s event can email their contact details to receive early registration information for our 2012 event.

The conference will provide hands-on and in-depth information, interactive panel discussions, formal presentations, case studies, networking opportunities and the chance to discover the latest metering technology implementations and strategies that can help improve water efficiency programs and guarantee customer satisfaction.

ACWA The Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) is a regional association of water supply and sanitation utilities from the Arab countries.
The water sector in the Arab region suffers from chronic problems, such as water scarcity, weak water and environmental policies, high investment needs, lack of management and technical capacity, increasing demand due to growing populations, and conflict. Here comes the necessity to engage professionals in utilities from the Arab countries in a dialogue that extends across the borders within the Arab world. Therefore, the decision to establish The Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) was taken in April 2007.
The official launching of ACWUA secretariat in Amman was in July 2009. ACWUA, as a regional center of excellence, will partner with water supply and wastewater utilities in Arab countries to provide best practice service delivery to their customers.
